McKayla moved to Iowa City after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management and Public Relations from Iowa State University. Before joining our team in 2021, she spent seven years as a florist. In her two years, she has helped plan reception layouts, timelines, menus, and bar selections while connecting with couples and showcasing the beauty of the Iowa River Wetlands. Outside work, you can find her shopping at Target, having a glass of white wine, and spending time with her husband and black cat Olive.
Brian Thorson | Sr. Banquet Manager
As the Senior Banquet Manager at Hyatt Regency Coralville, Brian brings nearly a decade of expertise to our event operations team. With meticulous attention to detail, he oversees the dedicated team responsible for ensuring every couple’s big day is nothing short of extraordinary. His hands-on approach ensures that every detail is perfect, contributing to the creation of unforgettable weddings at our hotel. Outside of the world of events, he unwinds outdoors or with a workout, embracing a healthy, active lifestyle.
Shannon Arnold | Director of Events
Shannon oversees our Event Planning and Event Operations teams. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa and a Certified Meeting Planner with more than two decades of experience helping plan over 100 weddings in the Iowa City area. She is committed to turning special days into unforgettably seamless events. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, friends, and her dogs, Lucky and Margot. She has two kids, is married to an event planner, and lives for card games, cheese, and gin cocktails.
Suné Holt | Sr. Events Manager
Suné is a seasoned event planning professional with 13 years of experience who specializes in weddings. A proud alumnus of Winona State University, she holds a degree in Commercial Recreation and Tourism, with an emphasis on Event Planning and Communication Studies. As the Senior Event Manager at Hyatt Regency Coralville, Suné has curated countless unforgettable moments for couples on their special day. Beyond events, she enjoys crafting cocktails, going to the beach, camping, and hiking, and spending quality time with her husband Chris, her dog Cooper, and her cat DaVinci.
Bri Beranek | Catering Sales Manager
Meet Bri, our Catering Sales Manager at Hyatt Regency Coralville with nine years of expertise in sales. More than a sales professional, Bri is your guide to falling in love with our event spaces. She goes beyond booking by sharing essential information about weddings at our hotel. Outside work, she coaches high school dance in her free time and co-owns a balloon garland business with her sister. A soon-to-be mom, Bri finds joy in the company of her loving husband, Nick, and their two dogs, Jetta and Lucy.
